The Flow Cytometry Facility at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has an opening for a flow cytometry operator. The position is in a busy flow cytometry facility. More information on the Facility can be found at http:\\flowcytometry.med.unc.edu. In brief we have 3 sorters - MoFlo, MoFlo XDP, Reflection and 6 - analyzers - FACScan, FACSCalibur (both are 5-color Cytek modifications), 3 CyAns (9-color), and a 7-laser 18 color LSRII (on order). The successful applicant would be the fourth member of our Facility staff and will be primarily responsible for operating a sorter but also the analyzers and especially advising users (technicians, graduate students, postdocs, investigators) on the instrument, applications, and data analysis. Requirements are 3 years (or more) experience operating, on a daily basis, preferably a MoFlo, Influx, or FACSVantage. Experience on a B-D FACSAria may be considered. Applicant must have a very good grasp of all flow cytometry principles, especially sorting, experience with a wide range of flow cytometry applications, great computer/software and communication skills, and, especially, be self-motivated and energetic. An aptitude for working with complex instrumentation (i.e. not just operating) and an ability to think through and troubleshoot problems is a must. We envision the position being a Research Associate but depends on qualifications - salary will be commensurate with experience/qualifications. Interested individuals should contact me (see below) with CV/resume, references, and statement of salary expectations. Larry W.
