RE: Dilution of bone marrow

Dear Colleagues

Bone marrow aspiration is really aggressive, and none of us could put ourselves in the
patients' shoes to understand how painful it is. There are actually a plenty of cells in
each micro liter of B.M samples; I myself use only 10 ul for each tube and some times
even less (5 ul). In this case if you have 500ul good marrow aspirate you have much more
than enough. So you can recommend your clinicians to be careful to give you the
first 500ul aspirate which is definitely undiluted with the periphery.

God bless

discomfort to the patient balanced with the expectations of getting results for
cytogenetics, molecular, flow cytometry and morphology on 1 draw. When made aware that
their results might be compromised, they were very understanding.
