Dectin 1 as alveolar macrophage marker

Hi all!
I´m currently working in a model of acute pneumonia in mouse. I need to
improve the FACS analysis of the BAL and single cell suspension we prepare
from lungs. I´m having some trouble identifying alveolar macrophages because
we´re using F480 but this marker is poorly expressed in lungs.
I found a reference at the Journal of Immunology in wich they demonstrate
that DECTIN 1 (also knokw as beta glucan receptor) is highly expressed by
different types of macrophages including alveolar macs, but also in other
cell types. (See reference at: *J of Immunol*, Taylor RP *et al*, 2002, 169:
3876-3882 or http://www.jimmunol.org/cgi/content/full/169/7/3876).
FITC and PE conjugated anti-Dectin 1 markers are commercially available for
flow cytometry. I wonder if I should use it because this marker is also
expressed by neutrophils, some subsets of DCs and T cells.
Have you ever tryed it? Can I use the FITC conjugated marker besides the
high autofluorescence of the macrophages?

Thank you in advance!

Natalia
