Great suggestion Uriel. I think that's the shortest post I've ever seen
from you. ;-)

I might add that it would be nice if people would include the identity
of the responders when posting summaries.

Cheers,
Norm

Subject: Suggestion

Hello friends,
I would like to pick up on a small comment in one of Prof. Robinson's
emails, regarding emails without "an identifiable name". I would like to
suggest a feature that should be mandatory for emails to the list:
please include your full name and some sort of identification
(position/role, institution/company, and the like), even if succinct.
Many people send emails signed with their initials, first name only, or
name without any other indication on who the person is. Sometimes the
email address gives some indication but even that is impossible
sometimes (hotmail, gmail, etc), and if possible that still is not the
way for the rest of us to know who and where you are. When I just
started in the list i used to sign just my name, and it was pointed to
me that some sort of identification is usually expected, and I
completely agree. I am sure that the people doing so are just unaware,
as I was. Maybe that should be part of the "instructions" sent to new
list members, together with the usual be nice and polite. I think that
part of the communication between us should include our personal
identification, not only that of our fluorescence channels!

Best regards,

uriel.
