ISAC 2008 elections and Education Cytometry Education of the membership of ISAC is a key aspect of the ISAC organization. Course material that is found in textbooks, annual courses and "Current Protocols in Cytometry" is very valuable to the membership. These include both basic and advanced cytometry information. Additional education materials could contain many other aspects of cytometry, including lectures, workshops and areas of high interest (i.e. AIDS). The previous councils (2004-2008) has made the education issue one of it’s top priorities. Since the consistency of the council membership will change in May 2008 and council individuals that were involved in supervising this initiative may not be on the next council, it is critical now that this issue is discussed by the membership and the ISAC council as it needs to be implemented in the next few years for the general cytometry community and our ISAC society.. For instance, how does the information presented at ISAC 2008 meeting in Hungary get disseminated to the entire membership of ISAC and the individuals that could not attend the meeting due to financial limitations. What mechanisms will be enlarged by ISAC and put into place to inform our members of this valued scientific information? Education of all its members ( new and old) is a key initiative for ISAC. This education is not only for the novice but the mature scientist that has lived his entire professional life with Cytometry issues. Bob Robert M.
