Re: vitriolic analyzer service

Hi, Alice,

I actually received responses coming to me from manufacturers referring to
the same reason. I don't know why the list is so strictly against
contributions by the manufacturers of the instruments we use every day.

In our Boston flow cytometry list server everyone can say anything,
including manufacturers. As a matter of fact we drink beer with them once
a month (every first Monday) and so far no one got hurt.

 To answer Akos,
I believe the reason that the instrument representatives do not respond to
the negative
and positive comments on the mailing list is that "we" have made it clear
that we do not
want the list to serve as a base for advertising. There is a fine line
between defending
your company's instruments and advertising those instruments. I agree
that it would be
good to hear a response from BD. And it would be especially good, because
the various
instrument vendors can get hammered on this list and perhaps they should
have the right
to defend themselves!

I must say that I commend the vendors for the amount of self-control that
they use. Can
we figure out a way to let them in on the discussion?
