Protein Content

Hi Flowers-

A quick (hopefully!) query regarding determination of protein content:

I'm intrigued by early papers (e.g. Crissman et al, THE JOURNAL OF CELL
BIOLOGY . VOLUME 59, 1973 * pages 766-771) describing the use of FITC for
correlating protein content with cell cycle.

Has anybody tried similar cellular protein characterization using
succinimidyl esters?  I've read that isothiocyanates form more stable
conjugates, but there seems to be a greater number of fluorochromes
available as succinimidyl esters.

Any feedback on this is appreciated.
