Dear Fatema,

K562 cells constitutively express glycophorin-A, but not HLA molecules. They
can be induced to express HLA class 1 molecules by IFN-gamma. However, also
be aware that K562 cell lines obtained from different sources may differ,
for example in HLA class 2 molecule induction by IFN-gamma (see Ress SR,
Rousseau J, Eidne K, Ratanjee B, Millar B, Keraan M. HLA Class II induction
by IFN-gamma in K562 variant cell line: inhibition by serum lipid. Human
Immunology 1991;31:57-66).

I don't know if this helps.

Regards,

 Stan
