PC security

For those who have instruments connected to a PC running Windows XP...

Do you have the XP firewall enabled? Do you have Auto Update
checked? When we try to enable the firewall on our system, we are
unable to connect to the instrument (yes, we've allowed the port used
by Diva to connect to the instrument to pass).	Since (for some
reason) we are frequently hacked, we've had to hide all our
acquisition computers behind a proxy server. The proxy server gives
us security, but decreases bandwidth, and makes file transfer over
the network really slow. I'm just wondering if anyone else is having
security/connection issues with their systems.	Specifically, we have
issues with instruments running the FACSDiVa program (4.1.2) on an
Aria, LSRII, and Cantos. Also, I'm worried that if we just apply
updates automatically, one of these days we'll find an
incompatibility with the update and our ability to run/connect to the
instruments. Has anyone had similar issues or solutions?

Thanks,
Ryan
