Carefully. We are handling live lentivirus infected cells as a RG-2
organism i.e. biosafety device for the sorter, separate facility, monitoring
program, controlled air flow within the facility, disinfection after running
one of these samples, gloves, gowns and masks for the operator etc. I did a
search of the literature recently and it is not clear on how much of a risk
lentivirus poses. Also, our local experts can't seem to agree amongst
ourselves as to how much a risk one of these organisms creates. However I
would rather do overkill and sleep well at night rather than take any risks.
We are basically following the general guidelines given at the CDC web site
for a BL2 facility.

Hi Flowers,
How are people approaching the sorting of lentivirus transduced cells?
Thank you for any advice,
Maris
