Effect of time on viability

Hello,
We are planning on looking at viability of cultured cell lines using the YO-PRO-1 stain
from Molecular Probes in conjunction with propidium iodide. This analysis requires that
the cells remain unfixed. Our flow cytometer is not on-site, it is located approximately
fifteen minutes away. What is the general opinion on how long cells can be detached from
culture-ware prior to analysis without significantly affecting viability measurements?
Any suggestions on how to minimize damaging effects on cells during this time would be
appreciated as well.
Thank-you for your help,
Brian
