Colleagues: (there are several important topics here) If you can remember ISAC2006.com, you will always know where to find the latest information on the next ISAC International Congress. As I reported in the recent ISAC e- news, we have just initiated this site to keep you totally updated in all aspects of what is going to happen at the congress. I am particularly excited about the next congress since it is my responsibility as president-elect of ISAC to program that meeting. I will provide more details in January or February. So, you all have an opportunity to bombard me personally with ideas! May the best ideas win! While there is not much in the congress website right now, please put this into your hot-link list. Visit it frequently to see what is happening for your next congress. It seems that while all of you have some interest in cytometry, about half of the members of this list are not members of ISAC (International Society for Analytical Cytology). Perhaps you should consider joining. Of the 840 people who took our "Future of Cytometry" survey, less than half were ISAC members!! You can find a link that will explain the benefits of membership at http://www.cyto.purdue.edu/isac. By the way, one of my "jobs" over the holiday break is to publish the results of that survey on our website. Joining ISAC means that you will begin a partnership with many other individuals who can assit you in your interests in cytometry. You will also receive a subscription to our Society journal Cytometry. Please consider publishing your next paper in Cytometry. The ISAC Congresses bring together members from around the world. It is a whirlwind of science and technology. It is an opportunity to meet a potential advisor, post-doc position, or future employer. ISAC meetings are very much opportunities for networking and seeing new technologies. For those who are already members, can I gently remind you that you should renew your membership. The membership of the society is steadily growing and this is very exciting indeed. In a week or two, I will publish my annual "state of the cytometry web" email. Look for a few surprises! Best wishes J.
