Synovial macrophages in Osteoarthritis: the key to understanding pathogenesis?

A post has become available to investigate the role of synovial macrophages in osteoarthritis (OA) pathogenesis.

We have recently found two distinct subsets of synovial macrophages in OA patients. To unravel their function, we will investigate where these subsets are located within the synovial tissue, and with whom they are interacting. For this project we will make use of Imaging Mass Cytometry, an exciting new technology that enables comprehensive analysis of cellular phenotypes and their interrelationships in intact tissue.

You will have awarded or be near completion of a PhD in Immunology. You will have excellent laboratory skills and experience in multi-colour flow cytometry and/or Cytof technology and/or immune histochemistry.

This post is available fixed term for 12 months.

Informal enquiries to Dr. Catharien Hilkens ( and/or Dr Andrew Filby
